By car: From Cancun drive south an Highway 307 about 3,5
to 4 hours to the little town Pedro Antonio Santos. About 200 meters past
the south end of town, turn left at the sign for "Laguna Azul" (there is
a large satellite tower on the right hand side of the road just opposite
the sign). Go approximately 3 kilometers (2 miles) and turn left at the "T".
If you are coming from the south, drive approximately half an hour past Bacalar,
to the north in the direction of Cancun. Turn right about 200 meters before
you reach Pedro A. Santos (the tall tower ist just to the left).
By Bus: From Cancun airport, take a taxi to the Cancun bus depot. From there
take a second class Mayab bus to Pedro Antonio Santos (the bus will be going
to "Chetumal" which is the capital of the state Quintana Roo and about 80
kilometers (50 miles) south of Pedro Antonio Santos). Tell the driver you
want to get off at Pedro A. Santos. This is the first town you come after
the little town of "Limones" and is about 6 kilometers south of the Mahajual
turnoff. Once you arrive in Pedro A. Santos, look across the street. You
should see a taxi which will take you to Laguna Azul.
By air: From Canacun or Belize airport, take a plane to "Chetumal". From
the Chetumal airport, take a taxi. Tell the driver to take you to Pedro Antonio
Santos. The fee is usually between $300 and $500 Pesos (about $33 to $54
U.S. dollars).
